Tec Labs has a mission to strengthen academia and industry partnerships and yesterday we had the opportunity to do just that!
The event aimed to showcase the EU-funded project TWIN2PIPSA (Twinning for Excellence in Biophysics of Protein Interactions & Self-Assembly) and possibly build strategic partnerships between academia and biotech industry partners.
Rita Tomé Rocha started by presenting Tec Labs’ mission and importance in promoting innovation and building close relationships with the industry.
Cláudio Gomes, Project Coordinator of Twin2PIPSA, introduced the consortium, whose mission is to build a reference cluster for research in protein self-assembly able to address major challenges in biomedicine and biotechnology, that right now interconnects the University of Lisboa (Ciências ULisboa/FCiências.ID), and the Universities of Cambridge, Copenhagen, and Tel-Aviv.
Then, our industry partners Miguel Lopes, Associate Director of Tissium, Ivo Martins, CEO of Dart Diagnostics, Joana Brás, IVD Director of NZY Tech, and Ana Rita Ricardo, Director of Operations of Rodon Biologics got the chance to highlight their work and set future perspectives for each company.
Finally, Romana Santos highlighted some of the technical competencies of the Ciências ULisboa team, which range from protein expression and characterization to molecular docking and advanced instrumentation to evaluate protein stability and protein-protein interactions.
In the end, everyone gathered for some networking moments which included a visit to the labs where the magic happens, which we hope were promising to build partnerships in the future!
