Tec Labs was actively involved in IncubX, the National Incubators and Accelerators Meeting, held at the Hotel Monte Real Termas and Spa from September 23rd to 24th. Although Tec Labs only participated on the second day of the event, the team left with valuable insights and perspectives on the future of the incubation ecosystem!

The day kicked off with a thought-provoking talk by Miguel Damas, who discussed how we manage stress in a consistent manner. His key message was the need for individuals and teams to focus on entering a recovery phase rather than staying in survival mode, stressing the importance of tools and strategies to promote long-term well-being.

We also gained further insights into the “Região de Leiria Crescimento” fund, managed by Portugal Ventures in collaboration with the CIMRL and Nerlei CCI. This €20 million fund targets companies in the Leiria region, especially those in sectors such as digital technology, green economy, and smart mobility. The fund aims to support local companies with investments ranging from €250,000 to €1.5 million, fostering growth and innovation in the region. This regional fund aims to be a model for future expansion to other regions in Portugal, promising to boost local innovation and entrepreneurship.

Credits @ Miguel SousaThe day concluded with a hands-on workshop focused on the future of the national incubator system. Key challenges were identified, including the need for better capacitation of incubator teams, access to small funding tickets for Minimum Viable Product (MVP) testing, enhanced investment access, and fostering collaboration within networks. These themes highlighted critical areas of focus for the sustainability and growth of the national incubation landscape, providing feedback for better policy making.

The day ended with a panel on the benefits of Venture Studios, powered by Max Pog, Rui Gouveia and Alexandre Mendes, moderated by Mike Sigal, highlighting the importance of these structures on supporting companies on later stages of the development.
