Who said that summer months are equal to silly season couldn’t be further from the truth, especially for our spin-off NEVARO. Let’s check what they have been up to.
So, the month started with two great initiatives. The first one was that they organized a “Where’s Holi” geocaching tour with challenges connected to mental health topics and several pillars of their holistic approach. This was an event organized on the first weekend of the month, in Aveiro, and was part of the program of Festa da Saúde promoted by the Municipality of Aveiro and Sociedade Portuguesa de Medicina Interna.
After a remote phase of training and mentoring, the founders of NEVARO also went to Vienna, Austria, in the beginning of July to a matchmaking phase of Wild Card, an EIT Health program, which included a week of intensive mentoring and a pitch competition to choose the participants that were selected to follow to the last stage of it. Even though they didn’t make it to the last stage the access to “EIT Health network of mentors was of great value and allowed us to finetune our value proposition, mainly at the prevention and post-diagnostic stages of intervention”, in the words of Rita Maçorano, Co-founder of NEVARO.
Next trip was to Israel where NEVARO’s team went to participate in the on-site phase of the MassChallenge acceleration program that allowed them to enter an international network of tech innovators, as well as to get the support of two mentors: one more focused on product and another one more focused in business strategy and development. This last phase of the program included training and mentoring sessions and culminated in a final event where NEVARO pitched their solution, HOLI, on the impact track of the program.
On the same week of MassChallenge, Hugo Ferreira, Co-founder of NEVARO, also showcased HOLI on the Mental Health in the Workplace Summit organized by Católica Business School. This is an annual summit focused on a yearly base on different topics that involves a wide number of companies willing to debate those topics and sign a Pact with concrete action towards improving a given challenge. This year as the focus was mental health NEVARO supported the organizing in curating the event and showcased their solution during the event.
Are you still with us? Good cause we are now on the last few miles of the road: July also brought another prize to our spin-off, this time the Legal Up Prize by Abreu Advogados and IES – Social Business School. The initiative is part of the Sustainability Project for 2021-2022 of this law firm and for NEVARO winning “this award is another distinction that will allow us to put our solution in the map and ensure that more people and organizations will have access to it”, as the founders shared with us.
