On March 3rd, Tec Labs kicked off the 2026 edition of Breakfast with the CEO with an engaging session featuring Jorge Santos, CEO of AquaInSilico.
In an informal and relaxed setting at the Tec Labs Kitchen, Jorge shared AquaInSilico’s journey in the industrial and urban wastewater treatment sector, including the development of UPWATER, partnerships with wastewater treatment plant operators, and ongoing national and international projects.
Beyond the company’s trajectory, the session quickly evolved into an open discussion with participants. Topics such as the long sales cycles in the water sector, the challenges of acquiring new clients, and the impact of regulation, particularly the gap between legislation and enforcement, generated thoughtful exchanges. The expectation of industrial clients for payback periods under three years was also highlighted as a key factor influencing technology adoption.

The conversation further explored technical and market dimensions, including anaerobic versus aerobic reactors, the industry’s readiness for real-time simulations compared to post-process feedback systems, and how the technological maturity of wastewater treatment plants can shape innovation opportunities.
Participants also reflected on broader strategic questions: Are clients more motivated by value creation or by risk mitigation? Should companies explore smaller or emerging markets to accelerate growth?
As always, the session concluded with continued networking and informal discussions over breakfast, reinforcing the collaborative and open spirit that defines the Breakfast with the CEO series.
A strong start to 2026 ➡️ combining practical insights, sector-specific challenges, and meaningful dialogue within the Tec Labs community ✨
