On the afternoon of February 11, Tec Labs had the pleasure of welcoming an academic and institutional delegation from the State of Alagoas, Brazil, for a visit focused on research, innovation, and international collaboration.
The delegation brought together representatives from key governmental and higher education institutions in the State of Alagoas, including the Secretariat of Federative and International Relations, the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Universidade Federal de Alagoas, the Universidade Estadual de Alagoas, the Universidade Estadual de Ciências da Saúde de Alagoas, the Instituto Federal de Alagoas, and the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Alagoas.
The visit began with a presentation of Tec Labs’ mission, incubation model, and key areas of activity, highlighting its role in supporting science- and technology-based startups and spin-offs. Particular emphasis was placed on startup and spin-off success rates, the maturity of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and the structured support provided to early-stage ventures.
The delegation was then guided through the incubator facilities, including the Support Laboratories, gaining insight into the technical and scientific infrastructure available to resident projects and the conditions created to foster innovation-driven businesses.
The visit concluded with a presentation of the Centro de Testes | iXLab, located within Tec Labs, where potential avenues for more direct collaboration were discussed. The conversation explored opportunities for joint initiatives in research validation, technology testing, and internationalisation pathways, reinforcing the potential for closer cooperation between ecosystems.
Throughout the meeting, both parties highlighted the strong and longstanding ties between Portugal and Brazil, underlining the importance of deepening collaboration in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
