Last week, Tec Labs was present at the first national conference of technology transfer offices, organized by ANI (National Innovation Agency), which took place at Alfândega do Porto.
During the morning, the various TTOs had the opportunity to watch several very interesting conversations about the state of innovation in Portuguese universities and what can be done to improve it, starting with a conversation with João Mendes Borga (Executive member, ANI), António Santo Bob (Board member, FCT) and Ana Bandeira (President, INPI).
The following talks were hosted by several Portuguese entities that work with these entrepreneurship and innovation issues and presented the programs they are currently running for entrepreneurs. The entities were:
- ANI, which presented Horizon Europe’s current open calls
- INPI presented the work that they have been doing regarding Intellectual Property and then presented a European program managed by them called “SME Fund 2022“, a simpler and more flexible financial regime, to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) during the post-pandemic period and their subsequent economic recovery.
- Portugal Ventures presented the 3rd edition of the Call Innov-ID, which closes on January 27, 2023.
- IAPMEI presented several programs: Startup Visa, Tech Visa, Startup Voucher, and Startup Boost
In the afternoon we had the opportunity to see the pitches that students/researchers/professors from several Portuguese higher education institutions had been preparing for the last couple of months. Eight projects were the finalists and four of them received the ANI prize Born From Knowledge Ideas.
The final talk was a pleasant conversation between startups that were supported by TTOs at the beginning of their lives.
