Tec Labs participation in the Ulisses project

Coordinated by a multidisciplinary team with teachers and researchers coming from various ULisboa’s Schools, including CIÊNCIAS, the University of Lisbon Interdisciplinary Studies on Sustainable Environment and Seas (ULISSES) was a project under UNITE!, dedicated to the fostering of active and effective learning through a problem-based learning course, that recently came to an end with excellent results. For three intensive weeks, over 30 students from all corners of the globe joined forces in teams to propose solutions to a pressing problem of our times: plastics in the oceans.

While they were developing their solution, the students learned several skills that are part of the Tec Labs’ menu, namely design thinking and team building. Rita Tomé Rocha and António Marques were there giving these workshops and also mentoring the groups in their path towards the final pitching day, that took place on the 23rd of July. We also helped in moderating an meeting-with-experts session.

Overall, we thought the participating students excelled in this very difficult task. Congratulations to them all!
